Wanna Try Frog Ramen?

Wanna Try Frog Ramen?
Have you ever eaten frog meat? Frog is a common ingredient in the cuisines of some of the world’s cultures, but would you think of frog meat as a topping for Japanese food such as ramen?

A ramen restaurant in Nagoya does exactly that. The owner loves the taste of frogs so much that he started using fresh frog meat for his main ramen dish. He even changed the same of his restaurant to “Kaeru”, the Japanese word for frog.

The frog meat topping itself was very good. However, the ramen broth and noodles were just ‘okay’”, commented a person who had visited the restaurant. “The taste and texture was similar to chicken, so I wonder if they could’ve just used chicken instead of frog? The frog was really lean though.”

Aside from ramen, the restaurant serves several other frog meat-based dishes, such as Fried Frog, Sauteed Frog with Vegetables, Frog in Szechuan-style Sauce, Frog and Eggplant in Miso Sauce, Cold Frog Noodles, Frog Fried Rice, etc. If you are curious about frog meat and willing to give it a shot, this may be a good place to get started.
