Instead of frantically navigating the streets trying to squeeze in a stop at every popular tourist attraction, why not view the entire city all at once at one of the top twenty lookout points in Japan.

Top 20 Places to Catch a Great View in Japan

This year, the highest and lowest lookout points came in at first and second place (Tokyo Sky Tree at 450 meters [1,476 ft] and Kiyomizudera at 13 meters [42 ft]). Tokyo Sky Tree, towering above the rest, also has the most expensive entrance fee at 3,000 yen (US $30.75). Last year, second place went to Tokyo Tower, but the newly opened Sky Tree dropped the former go-to Tokyo lookout point down to sixth place for 2013. Those looking for a great lookout spot for free can enjoy no entrance fee at Haneda Airport (#7), the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building (#10), Kansai Airport (#17), and Kobe City Hall (#19). Enjoy the view!
